Fantastic Four

Fantastic Four 1 came out in 2005 and Fantastic Four 2 came out in 2007. Both were with a half decent cast. Well Reed Richards was as dull as he was in the comics and that’s the way he is supposed to be. He is a boring scientist. Anyway the movies made some nice profits there for Fox. FF 1 made over $330 million and FF 2 made over $290 million. Not bad.

The Iron Man movie as a template for the next Fantastic Four movies. Iron Man was a darker hero than the usual Marvel Comic book hero but then again the Fantastic Four are a family and it’s a family movie. The darker tone has never really worked out in the comicbooks either simply because the main focus of the FF was indeed on the family itself. So I am not sure if it is such a good idea to have the FF take a darker path. But I am pretty sure that when the movie comes out, I’ll be in the line for it on premier day.

The franchise is looking to be “less bubble gum” this time round following the Iron Man template, which was a complete success in reviews and box office take but a bit darker when it came to its superhero. Iron Man was in no way as dark as The Dark Knight but was funny, action-y as well as a bit on the serious side.
